AEDC Blames Feeder Fault for Major Abuja Power Disruption

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has confirmed a widespread power outage affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including residential, military, and institutional zones.

In a statement shared on its official X (Twitter) handle on Monday, AEDC explained that the outage stems from a technical fault on a key feeder line.

“We regret the inconvenience and assure you that our technical team is working diligently to restore supply as soon as possible,” the statement read.


Areas Currently Affected by the Blackout

AEDC listed several affected zones, including:

  • Utako, Wuye, Jabi, Airport, NARSDA, NJI, NABDA

  • Lugbe axis: Shoprite, Riverpark Estate, War College, Dunamis, NIGCOMSAT, Nigeria-Korea Model School

  • Kapwa Village, Zuma Steel, Lugbe Primary, Peace Village, Tipper Garage, Jedo, Forte Royal Estate

  • Government/Military Areas: Aso Drive, NSA, NASS, Supreme Court, NJC, FJC, WuBassy Barracks, Army War College, DIA, Mambila Barracks, Niger Barracks, Lungi and Agu Ironsi Barracks

The blackout has also affected Tudu Wada, CRD, 1R, T-Pumpy Estate, New Site, and Video Club.

Restoration Timeline Not Yet Disclosed

While AEDC did not provide a specific timeline for power restoration, it stressed that its technical response team is working around the clock to resolve the issue.

“Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to serve you better,” the company added.
