Nigeria’s forward Umar Sadiq is set for increased action at Real Sociedad after returning from a long-term injury and loan uncertainty.
Manager Sergio Francisco praised the striker’s work rate following his 78-minute run in Sociedad’s 3–0 Copa del Rey victory at Negreira.
“He’s contributing a lot in training. I’m sure he’ll have more involvement from now on,” Francisco said.
Sadiq’s struggles stemmed from a failed summer transfer and lingering fitness issues. He previously scored five goals during his loan spell at Valencia, but competition and tactical changes sidelined him on return to Sociedad.

The 28-year-old will aim to re-establish himself when the team faces Athletic Bilbao in the Basque derby this weekend.
Redemption Arc
Sadiq’s resurgence could reopen Nigeria’s attacking options ahead of the 2026 World Cup playoffs.
