🗳️ Umahi: Tinubu Has Been Fair to South-East, Igbo Presidency ‘Not Realistic in 2027’ — Madubuike Fires Back

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has urged the South-East to rally behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, arguing that an Igbo presidency is “not realistic” at this time.

Speaking in Abuja, Umahi praised Tinubu for “unwavering love and fairness” towards the South-East, citing significant federal infrastructure projects in the region, including the Cross River–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja corridor and extensive works on the Second Niger Bridge access roads.

“We must not be deceived again. Mr President must have the votes of South-East up to 90% to cement this relationship. If we want to be president, we must avoid the politics of hate, misinformation, and sentiments,” Umahi declared.

The minister said Tinubu’s administration has revived 90% of abandoned projects in the region, some dating back to 2013, and has ensured fair project distribution nationwide.

⚡ Madubuike RespondsUmahi says Igbo presidency not realistic 2027

Former Minister of Education and Health, Professor Ihechukwu Madubuike, rejected Umahi’s position, insisting that the quest for an Igbo presidency is both long overdue and inevitable.

“Umahi is speaking for himself and his party, not for Ndigbo. Igbo presidency is beyond party propaganda — it’s a matter of rights, conscience, and justice,” Madubuike told reporters.

Madubuike argued that the presidency should not be reduced to political convenience, stressing that the aspiration cuts across party lines and enjoys growing acceptance among other ethnic groups.

🛣️ Projects Highlighted by Umahi

  • Cross River–Ebonyi–Benue–Kogi–Nasarawa–Abuja road corridor (465km dual carriageway, with 231.64km in South-East).

  • Ongoing works on Second Niger Bridge access roads in Delta and Anambra.

  • Rehabilitation of Enugu–Onitsha, Enugu–Port Harcourt, Afikpo–Abia–Imo, and other key federal roads.
