D’Tigress to Face WNBA Teams in Pre-Season Fixtures
African champions Nigeria’s D’Tigress are set to play two WNBA teams, the Los Angeles Sparks and Minnesota Lynx, in a series of pre-season fixtures in April. The matches are part of the team’s preparations ahead of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany.

Fixtures Against Elite Opposition
The Nigerian national women’s basketball team will first face the Los Angeles Sparks on April 25 at the Viejas Arena in San Diego. Two days later, D’Tigress will take on the Minnesota Lynx at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. These games represent a historic meeting between the reigning African champions and two elite WNBA sides.

Coach Wakama’s WNBA Experience
D’Tigress’ head coach, Rena Wakama, brings valuable WNBA experience to the team. Wakama is currently serving on the coaching staff of the Chicago Sky and has previously worked in the Unrivalled league. Several members of the D’Tigress squad have also gained experience in the WNBA. Amy Okonkwo played for the Dallas Wings last season, while Ezinne Kalu had a stint with the Atlanta Dream. Murjanatu Musa spent time in training camp with the Connecticut Sun.

The pre-season fixtures will provide D’Tigress with valuable exposure against high-level opposition. These games are part of the team’s preparation for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will be held in Berlin, Germany from 4 to 13 September.
