Kano Governor Sacks Two Senior Aides Over Drug Baron Bail and Palliative Diversion

By: IDNN News Desk

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has fired two senior aides following investigations into their roles in a drug trafficking case and the diversion of government palliatives.

Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, was dismissed after a Special Investigative Committee confirmed his direct involvement in securing bail for Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, a suspected dangerous drug baron.

“The committee confirmed Sharada’s culpability through his own testimony, which established his direct involvement in the bail process,” said Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Umar Farouk Ibrahim.

In a separate case, Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, was sacked for allegedly rebagging and diverting palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada in 2024. He has been arraigned in court on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.

Both men have been ordered to return all government property in their possession by August 11 and to stop presenting themselves as public officials.

Governor Yusuf cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, after the committee found no wrongdoing.

“Our commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption is unwavering,” Yusuf said, warning appointees to maintain integrity in office and private life.

The public was also cautioned against conducting government business with the dismissed aides.
