In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised Odinga’s “courage in the face of adversity, his resilience in pursuing electoral reforms, and his unwavering belief in the people’s power.”
“His legacy will endure in the institutions he helped to shape and the democratic ideals he championed,”
Tinubu said. “We mourn with Kenya in this moment of national grief and stand in solidarity with you, President William Ruto, as you lead your nation through this painful chapter.”

🇰🇪 Odinga’s Passing Confirmed in India
According to Indian police reports, Odinga, aged 80, collapsed while walking with family members and a personal doctor in Kerala, India, on Wednesday.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, confirmed Krishnan M, Additional Superintendent of Police in Kerala.
A member of Odinga’s political team also confirmed his passing to AFP, noting that an official statement from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) would follow.

Tinubu’s tribute emphasised Odinga’s stature as a freedom fighter and Pan-African advocate, lauding his role in strengthening inclusive governance and regional cooperation.
“As a statesman of international repute and a freedom fighter, Mr Odinga embodied the spirit of Pan-Africanism and was a steadfast advocate for inclusive governance and regional cooperation,”
Tinubu stated.
