Niger Delta rights activist Ann-Kio Briggs has demanded disclosure of the peace terms between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and President Tinubu, which ended six months of emergency rule in Rivers State.
Briggs said Rivers residents risk losing faith in their governor if agreements remain secret.
“It’s like shaving the head of someone behind their back,” she told Channels TV.
Rivers Crisis and Political Deals
Fubara returned to office last week after suspension under emergency rule. Tinubu brokered reconciliation between Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, but terms remain undisclosed.
Credibility and 2027 Stakes
Analysts warn secrecy could deepen distrust in Rivers’ fragile politics. The push for transparency signals how grassroots perception may shape alliances ahead of 2027.
