Teenager Hospitalised After Hit-and-Run on Lagos Onipanu BRT Corridor

Lagos Teenager Hospitalised After Hit-and-Run on Onipanu BRT Corridor

A teenage boy has been hospitalised after a driver reportedly struck him and left the scene along the Onipanu BRT corridor inward Fadeyi in Lagos.

The incident occurred at about 4:30pm on October 7, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.

LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency’s Cobra Team arrived at about 4:32pm and attended to the injured teenager.

The boy sustained head and leg injuries and was taken to a Trauma Centre for further treatment.

His identity is being withheld because he is a minor.

Driver not identified in available reports

The available official account does not establish the identity of the driver or the vehicle involved.

It also does not confirm that an arrest has been made.

The incident therefore remains a reported hit-and-run pending further information from relevant authorities.

There was also no verified update in the reviewed reporting on the teenager’s condition after he was taken for treatment.

Separate Onipanu crash involved different circumstances

LASEMA responded to another crash in the Onipanu area earlier the same day involving a truck and a Toyota Camry.

The agency gave a preliminary assessment of reckless driving and speeding in that separate incident.

That finding does not apply to the crash involving the teenager.

No verified cause has been established for the teenage boy’s incident.

What happens next

The next public-safety questions are whether the driver can be identified and whether authorities can establish the circumstances of the crash.

Any police investigation, arrest, charge or medical update would materially change the story and require further reporting.

For now, the verified position remains limited:

A teenage boy was struck on the Onipanu BRT corridor and taken for treatment. The driver reportedly left the scene. The driver’s identity, arrest status and the teenager’s later condition remain unverified.
