Woman Granted ₦3m Bail Over Alleged Cyberstalking of Folashade Okoya
A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Ifeoma Nwafor bail in the sum of ₦3 million after she was arraigned on charges involving conspiracy and the alleged cyberstalking of Folashade Okoya.
Nwafor pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge before Justice Deinde Dipeolu.
The court granted her bail with two sureties in like sum and ordered that she remain at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until the bail conditions are fulfilled.
Her continued custody is therefore not a conviction or a denial of bail.
Police allege false and malicious online publications
The prosecution alleges that Nwafor and others still at large participated in online publications concerning Okoya.
According to the charge, prosecutors described the publications as offensive, false and malicious and alleged that they were intended to cause distress.
Those descriptions remain allegations contained in the prosecution case.
Nwafor denied the charges through her not-guilty plea.
Court grants ₦3m bail
Nwafor’s counsel, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail during the arraignment.
The prosecution did not oppose the application.
Justice Dipeolu granted bail at ₦3 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The court ordered that Nwafor remain in custody pending fulfilment of the bail conditions.
That distinction is important: detention while bail conditions are being perfected is not a sentence and does not establish guilt.
Trial fixed for November 8
The matter was adjourned to November 8, 2026, for trial.
The prosecution must prove the charges at trial, where the defence may contest its evidence.
The next procedural question is whether Nwafor will perfect the bail conditions before the trial date.
For now, the verified legal position is:
Ifeoma Nwafor has been arraigned on charges involving conspiracy and alleged cyberstalking of Folashade Okoya. She pleaded not guilty, was granted ₦3 million bail with two sureties in like sum, and remains in custody pending fulfilment of those conditions.
