“Indeed, Allah commands justice and excellence…” — Qur’an 16:90
Ramadan Reflection Day 5 asks a difficult question:
What is the value of fasting without justice?
The Qur’an’s command is not seasonal. Justice is not suspended for convenience. Excellence is not optional.
When a fasting person feels hunger, vulnerability becomes real. That vulnerability should produce empathy. And empathy is the soil from which justice grows.
But ritual without reform is hollow.
A society may fast collectively yet tolerate injustice quietly. A leader may abstain physically yet indulge ethically.
Ramadan is not performance.
It is purification.
If hunger cannot soften arrogance, then fasting has remained external.
Justice begins within.
Accountability follows discipline.
Ramadan trains both.
