Nafiu Bala Denies Resignation, Calls Viral ADC Letter Fake and Malicious

ADC Chairman Denies Resignation, Labels Viral Letter as Fake

By: IDNN Political News

ABUJA —The battle for the soul of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) just took another twist, as Acting National Chairman Hon. Nafiu Bala came out strongly to deny claims that he has resigned from his leadership position.

Bala described a widely circulated letter bearing his name and a May 18, 2025, date as “fake, misleading, and malicious,” aimed at fracturing the party from within.

“That letter is a forgery,” Bala said in a statement Friday. “It did not come from me. It is the work of mischievous elements who want to destabilize our structure.”

ADC rejects Nafiu Bala’s claim
“I, Nafiu Bala, do hereby write to notify you of my resignation… effective 26 May 2025,”

Bala’s statement directly contradicts claims by other ADC officials who cited the same letter as proof that he had stepped down. But Bala says the evidence tells a different story.

“All my official correspondence uses ADC letterhead bearing our emblem and insignia. That document had none,” he said.

He dismissed the letter as a plain-paper forgery, lacking any signature, formatting, or reference consistent with his verified party communications.

“I Am Still ADC’s Deputy National Chairman”

Referring to a July 2, 2025 ADC event at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja — where party founder Ralph Nwosu formally resigned — Bala said his position was publicly reaffirmed during the handover.

“In his address to the global media, Chief Nwosu made it clear: ‘Nafiu Bala did not resign as Deputy National Chairman.’ That alone exposes the deceit.”

He further challenged the legitimacy of those now attempting to claim leadership within the ADC, saying they do not meet the constitutional requirements laid out in the party’s founding documents.

ADC Constitution: No Room for Shortcuts

“You must be a financial member for at least one year to contest for any national position,” Bala stated. “That rule stands. No one is exempt.”

He described the current leadership tussle as being engineered by opportunists, many of whom have not fulfilled basic party obligations.

Call for Vigilance and Unity

Bala ended his statement by urging ADC supporters nationwide to stay alert and reject distractions.

“Our party is built on democracy, integrity, and transparency,” he said. “We must defend that legacy. I am committed to that mission.”

IDNN Takeaway

The game isn’t over. It’s just heating up.
And Nafiu Bala isn’t handing over the keys — especially not to fraud and fakes.
This is no resignation. This is resistance.
