UYO, AKWA IBOM — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State that his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be met with full acceptance, support, and zero humiliation.

The message, delivered through Vice President Kashim Shettima at a grand rally held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, emphasized that the APC would protect and promote Eno’s political relevance.

“No one will question your place here. You will not be humiliated. You will not be forsaken,” Shettima declared.

The high-powered reception was attended by:

  • APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje

  • Senate President Godswill Akpabio

  • 24 APC governors and key political figures

Tinubu’s message stressed unity and purpose over division, declaring Eno’s move as one aligned with “partnership over partisanship.”

Senator Akpabio praised Eno’s political maturity and described the move as a “signal of South-South alignment,” especially towards national projects like the Ibom Deep Seaport.

Ganduje, in his remarks, called the defection a transition from “political isolation to national relevance”, lauding Tinubu’s inclusive approach to leadership.

“What is happening is not just political movement, it is political maturity… You have chosen partnership over partisanship,” Akpabio added.
