ABUJA — Special Assistant on Digital Media Strategy to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarenwaju, has taken a swipe at some Nigerian media houses for what he called irresponsible reporting over the registration of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as a political party.

Using his verified X account, Olarenwaju clarified that ADA has not been formally adopted by the broader opposition coalition and criticized the press for rushing to conclusions.

“ADA has not been adopted by the coalition, and when the time is right, the public will be informed,” he posted.

Atiku’s aide Demola Olarenwaju clarifies ADA party has not been adopted, criticizes media for false narrative.

The aide’s remarks come amid reports that the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) had applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ADA’s registration, sparking speculation of a new opposition bloc to rival the APC in 2027.

The formal request, signed by Chief Akin Rickets, described ADA as a coalition-backed platform with the slogan “Justice for All.”

Olarenwaju, however, insists this is premature and not a reflection of coalition consensus.

🔻Context:

  • ADA’s registration push was perceived by media as a merger move involving Atiku, El-Rufai, Amaechi, and others.

  • Olarenwaju says the coalition has not yet endorsed any party or structure.

  • Critics say the media’s spin could undermine strategic negotiations.
