ABUJA — Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has leapt to the defense of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the country’s current challenges — from worsening insecurity to deepening poverty — are the result of leadership failures by past administrations, not the current one.

Governor Sani took direct aim at opposition critics, accusing them of hypocrisy and selective memory.

“All the people talking today were at the helm of affairs. The poverty level in northern Nigeria rose from 50% to over 70% before Tinubu took over,” he stated.

Don’t blame Tinubu — these problems started long ago, says Kaduna Gov Uba Sani.
All the people talking today were at the helm of affairs. The poverty level in northern Nigeria rose from 50% to over 70% before Tinubu took over,

Sani said that between 2014 and 2016, the country witnessed the expansion of insurgency and the birth of banditry in places like Birnin Gwari and Zamfara, which previous administrations failed to address.

“As of 2014, there was no insurgency in many parts of the North-West. That all changed due to negligence and poor planning by past governments,” he said.

The governor also pointed to rising out-of-school children, weak healthcare systems, and growing poverty in the North as indicators of deep-rooted failures long before Tinubu’s time.

“When I was in the Senate, every time we entered chambers, we were bracing for a one-minute silence. That’s how frequent the killings were,” he recounted.

Sani insisted that President Tinubu inherited a broken system and urged Nigerians to allow time for reforms to take hold.
