Fubara Allies Shut Out As Rivers APC Screening Sparks Political Tension

๐ŸŸฅ Fubara-Linked Aspirants Fail APC Screening As Internal Friction Deepens

Fresh internal friction has emerged inside the Rivers chapter of the All Progressives Congress after several aspirants linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara failed the partyโ€™s House of Assembly screening process ahead of the forthcoming primaries.

The Rivers APC political tension intensified after the partyโ€™s screening committee cleared only 33 aspirants out of the 98 individuals who participated in the exercise conducted between May 9 and May 10.

According to the screening committeeโ€™s official clearance document, 56 aspirants were disqualified for allegedly failing to meet the requirements of the internal vetting process. The report was signed by committee chairman Muraine Ajibola, secretary Ishake Yamawe, and committee member Danjuma Samuel.

Among those reportedly affected were Chijoke Ihunwo, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and Sokari Goodboy โ€” figures widely associated with Fubaraโ€™s political camp. Aspirants linked to former APC governorship candidate Tonye Cole were also reportedly affected by the exercise.

The outcome has now affected multiple influential blocs inside the Rivers APC, intensifying wider conversations over alignment battles and the future balance of influence within the party.

๐ŸŸจ Why The Rivers Assembly Primaries Suddenly Matter More

Although the APC officially presented the process as a routine internal exercise, the concentration of affected aspirants from major political blocs has immediately fuelled deeper political interpretation across Rivers State.

Inside Rivers political circles, Assembly ticket control is increasingly viewed as a major instrument capable of shaping delegate alignment, operational influence, and long-term political leverage ahead of 2027.

That has now transformed the Assembly primaries into more than a legislative contest.

For many party stakeholders, the latest development is increasingly being interpreted as part of a broader struggle over operational control, structure dominance, and internal power recalibration inside the Rivers APC.

๐ŸŸฅ Questions Grow Over Internal APC Power Balance

The outcome of the exercise has already triggered growing conversations among supporters and political observers over whether deeper alignment struggles may now be influencing the direction of the Rivers APC.

While the screening committee maintained that the affected aspirants failed to satisfy internal party requirements, the concentration of disqualifications involving multiple political camps has intensified debate over fairness, transparency, and the balance of influence inside the party.

As of press time, neither Governor Fubaraโ€™s camp nor the Rivers APC leadership had issued an official reaction to the outcome of the process.

Still, the political impact of the development is already extending beyond the immediate Assembly primaries themselves.

For many observers, the Rivers APC political tension may now represent the opening stage of a wider structure battle capable of reshaping influence, legislative control, and internal power calculations as Rivers APC enters what may become one of its most consequential internal political struggles ahead of 2027.
