Inspectors from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have completed a comprehensive inspection of Nigeria’s proposed venues for the 2025/26 CAF African Schools Football Championship. The team praised facilities in Remo, Ikenne, and Sagamu for meeting international standards. The two‑day inspection focused on the Remo Stars Sports Institute, FC Ebedei Stadium, and other infrastructure. CAF officials expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to host the tournament in April 2026.
CAF Team Inspects Facilities Across Ogun State
The inspection team visited the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne and FC Ebedei Stadium in Sagamu, where they evaluated the quality of the playing fields, accommodation, medical facilities, and security measures. The CAF delegation, led by Omar Amr, expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. They also reviewed supporting facilities, including Babcock University’s accommodation and medical facilities.

Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne received particularly high praise. The CAF inspectors called it “the best facility” they had ever seen in West Africa. They noted the stadium’s modern design, the high-quality turf, and state-of-the-art training facilities, which will provide a competitive environment for the tournament. Inspectors were impressed by the infrastructure’s readiness and its ability to host international teams.
Impressive Plans for the Championship
The African Schools Football Championship will bring together 24 teams—12 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ teams—from across Africa. Nigeria will compete against other top African nations for a chance to showcase their young talent.
The CAF delegation also met with local organizers and reviewed the tournament’s logistics, including transportation, accommodation, and the safety of the participants. Their feedback highlighted the well-structured arrangements in place and the support from local stakeholders.
