A first-year female student of Plateau State University was reportedly abducted near off-campus accommodation in Bokkos on October 31, according to PUNCH.
The newspaper placed the incident at about 8:40pm in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and reported that another person was injured. Its account cited an unnamed student and a university employee.
Student Source Describes Abduction
The unnamed student told journalists on November 1 that the undergraduate had been with another female student when attackers seized her.
The source, who said he did not know the student personally, was not identified as an eyewitness.
The Sun also reported the abduction and said another person sustained a gunshot injury. The injured person’s identity, student status and medical condition were not established in the accounts reviewed.
Employee Reports Off-Campus Shooting
Leadership quoted a university employee who said the institution was aware of a reported shooting in an off-campus student residential area.
The newspaper quoted the employee anonymously, explaining that he was not authorised to speak publicly. His account is not a formal university statement.
The employee expressed concern about the safety of students living outside the campus.
The newspapers said they had not obtained police comment before publication. IDNN has not independently confirmed the incident or established the student’s subsequent whereabouts or the injured person’s condition.
