PDP Reps Caucus 2027 Strategy Endorsement
Lawmakers elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have declared their support for the party’s 2027 strategy, affirming commitment to peace, unity, and victory in the next general election.
At an emergency meeting in Abuja, the caucus resolved to back all decisions taken by the party’s committees, including reconciliation moves and preparations for the November national convention in Ibadan.
Fred Agbedi, leader of the caucus and representative for Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in Bayelsa State, addressed journalists after the meeting.
“We are united to ensure that we support the party’s position, create stability, and strengthen PDP to take victory in 2027,” he said.
Focus on Party Stability
Agbedi dismissed suggestions of lingering crises, saying the caucus was focused on rebuilding cohesion. He noted that lawmakers were ready to collaborate with the National Working Committee (NWC), the Board of Trustees, and the NEC to consolidate peace within the party.
“There are no lingering crises. What we have told you is that the caucus adopts all decisions of the party’s organs, and we will work with them,” Agbedi emphasised.
Toward the 2025 Convention
The caucus highlighted the importance of the November 2025 national convention in Ibadan, describing it as a pivotal moment for the PDP to position itself as the credible alternative to the ruling APC.
Lawmakers also pledged support for disciplinary measures against errant members, saying only discipline and unity could guarantee electoral success.
Strengthening PDP for 2027
Political analysts see the endorsement by the PDP Reps caucus as a crucial show of strength, especially after the party’s NEC zoned its presidential ticket to the South. By closing ranks, the PDP seeks to project unity at a time when opposition coalitions are fragmented.
