INEC: Continuous Voter Registration to Run Until 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will continue until August 30, 2026.

National Commissioner Sam Olumekun said over 1.3 million Nigerians pre-registered online in just one week after the August 18, 2025 launch. Physical registration has since opened in 811 state and local government offices nationwide.

INEC says the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will run for one full year until August 30, 2026.

Olumekun urged citizens to register early:

“We appeal to Nigerians not to wait until the deadline approaches. From experience, registration centres are overwhelmed in the final weeks.”

INEC reiterated that the exercise is open only to Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above who have never registered.
