Odogwu Asaba trial: Defence seeks review time, reports say
Defence counsel for content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, sought additional time to review prosecution statements and other materials during reported October 28 proceedings at the Delta State High Court in Asaba, according to published accounts.
Ogbonna faces charges of rape and manslaughter in connection with a young woman’s death. He pleaded not guilty on October 21 before Justice Michael Nduka Obi, according to the Delta State Ministry of Justice. The allegations have not been established by a conviction.
Defence requests time to review materials
Reports published on October 29 and 30 describe the prosecution bringing five witnesses and video material before the court.
The defence requested time to examine witness statements and additional materials served on it. The accounts say the prosecution expressed readiness to proceed while acknowledging the need to allow the defence time for its review.
The reports do not clearly establish whether witness examination began or whether the video material was formally admitted as an exhibit.
November continuation reported
The Ministry of Justice’s earlier account had listed October 28 for further proceedings after Ogbonna entered his plea. It said the prosecution had been granted time to file witness depositions. That account predates the latest reported hearing.
Published reports say the matter was adjourned until November 19 for continuation. The next date and details of the hearing remain unconfirmed against a court record.
