Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle Targets Foreign-Born Players

What the Super Eagles Must Do — No Draws, No Excuses

Eric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, is targeting foreign-born players with Nigerian roots. His goal is to improve the squad for future qualifiers.

Chelle took charge earlier this year and has emphasized the importance of including foreign-based players. These players, especially those with dual nationality, will add quality and depth to the team.

Chelle’s Vision for the Super Eagles

Chelle wants a squad that combines domestic-based players with foreign-born talents. He’s interested in players like Felix Agu, Ryan Alebiosu, and Arthur Okonkwo, who have Nigerian heritage and now play abroad.

“We have many talented players with Nigerian roots,” Chelle said. “We are targeting them to ensure the best squad possible. We need players who are passionate about playing for Nigeria.”

The Impact of Dual Nationality on the Super Eagles

The coach is also focusing on players with dual nationality. Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi are examples of players who bring talent from top European clubs.

“We want a competitive team with players from both home and abroad,” Chelle added. “Foreign-based players bring valuable experience from Europe’s top leagues.”

Super Eagles’ AFCON and World Cup Ambitions

With AFCON qualifiers and World Cup spots in mind, Chelle wants to strengthen his team for future tournaments. A mix of domestic and foreign-based players will help them challenge for silverware.

“We’re looking at both European and African leagues to build a strong squad,” Chelle explained.
