Motorists travelling along the Bauchi–Maiduguri corridor have been urged to exercise caution after a significant section of the highway was cut off near the Darazo exit in Bauchi State.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency issued the warning on Sunday, September 27, saying the affected section posed a road hazard to motorists using the corridor.
SEMA specifically advised travellers moving along the Bauchi–Yobe–Maiduguri route, as well as motorists using related Kano–Gombe connections, to take necessary safety precautions.
The agency’s alert established that a significant portion of the road had been cut off as of Sunday.
As of IDNN’s latest check on September 28, no newer official public notice located by IDNN had confirmed that normal passage had been restored.
That means motorists should rely on current guidance from emergency and road-safety authorities rather than assume conditions have returned to normal.
The immediate public-interest question is whether the affected section has been secured, whether safe traffic management has been established and when normal movement can resume.
SEMA’s warning did not, in the public information reviewed by IDNN, provide a timetable for repairs or confirm an official alternative route.
Authorities responsible for the corridor will also need to clarify the extent of the damage, its cause and what emergency repair or traffic-control measures are being implemented.
