The Federal Government has launched an urgent probe after seven people died from a mysterious flesh-eating disease in Malabu, Adamawa. Health officials suspect Buruli ulcer, a neglected tropical disease.
Dr Adesigbin Olufemi confirmed 67 cases, with eight patients already undergoing surgery in Yola. He stressed awareness is critical, warning myths around witchcraft had delayed treatment in some cases.

Buruli ulcer, caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans, typically thrives in swampy environments. Nigeria has struggled with similar outbreaks due to poor sanitation and lack of clean water.
