Lagos outlines food-processing plan around Epe hub

Lagos outlines food-processing cluster plan around Epe logistics hub

Lagos plans 50–100 small food-processing plants around its logistics hub, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said, according to Vanguard.

The proposal would connect processing businesses with food storage and distribution infrastructure. The plants are planned facilities; their construction and operation have not been established by IDNN.

Central hub distinct from smaller markets

Earlier reporting identifies the central food logistics facility as Ketu-Ereyun, Epe. It is separate from smaller agro-produce hubs developed elsewhere in Lagos to bring food closer to consumers.

An October 30 P.M. News report, citing Vanguard’s account of the governor’s remarks, put the central hub at 70 per cent completion. It described a target to commission the first phase before the end of December 2026. Those dated estimates do not establish the facility’s present completion status.

Processing estimates remain provisional

The earlier account referred to 50–80 processing businesses, while newer coverage gives 50–100 plants. The reports do not explain whether these represent different planning stages or counting methods.

Delivery arrangements need clarification

IDNN has not obtained an official implementation document setting out processor selection, plant-level financing, ownership arrangements or construction dates.

Financing, utilities, operator selection and delivery dates remain key questions for assessing how the proposed cluster would function.
