The Anambra State Police Command has reported that a concerned resident brought a 10-year-old boy found wandering in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, to the local police division for assistance.

According to a November 1 statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reported by PUNCH, the child had gone out to play but became unable to find his way home. Police said they had begun efforts to locate his parents or guardians.

Child Found on November 1

The reported statement placed the incident on the afternoon of November 1.

Police said their preliminary interaction with the boy indicated that he could no longer locate his home or family members. The command said its priority was to establish contact with his family and facilitate a safe reunion.

Police Sought Help to Locate Family

In the November 1 statement, the command asked anyone with useful information about the boy’s parents or guardians to contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.

Commissioner of Police Nnanna Oji Ama commended the resident’s intervention and urged the public to support efforts to protect children and other vulnerable people.

He also advised parents and guardians to supervise their children and take precautions that could help identify and reunite them with family if they became separated.

The November 1 statement said efforts to locate the child’s family were underway. Whether he had since been reunited with them could not be independently confirmed at the time of this report.
