The military says troops rescued 31 kidnapped people in separate operations across Katsina and Kebbi states, with 21 of those freed in Kebbi later reunited with their families.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the operations took place on September 14 and 15 as troops responded to reported abductions in communities across the North-West.
The rescue figures and other operational details come from the military and have not been independently established by IDNN.
Ten rescued in Katsina
According to the military account, troops rescued 10 people in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The group comprised three males and seven females, including an infant, the military said.
It said the victims had been abducted from Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna before troops located and rescued them.
They were taken into military custody for further action after the operation.
The statement did not provide a full public account of how long the victims had been held, their medical condition at the time of rescue or whether all had since been reunited with relatives.
Those details matter because a rescue operation does not end when people leave captivity. Medical care, identification, family reunification and trauma support remain part of the citizen consequence that follows.
21 rescued in Kebbi, military says
In Kebbi State, the military said troops rescued 21 people who had been abducted from Fafala Village in Kangiwa Local Government Area.
It said the 21 victims had been reunited with their families.
That provides a clearer outcome beyond the initial rescue, but sensitive identities or medical details should not be published where they could unnecessarily expose vulnerable victims.
Arrests and combat claims remain attributed
Operation FANSAN YAMMA also said two suspects were arrested during the wider operations.
The military described the men as suspected terrorists.
That remains an allegation linked to an arrest and should not be treated as a finding of guilt.
The same statement said troops killed two other men during the operations, including one person the military described as a “kingpin.”
