The Campos Racing driver sealed the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship with second place in the final Feature Race of the season, completing a title battle that went all the way to the closing weekend.
Tuukka Taponen won the race.
Ugochukwu won the season.

The 19-year-old crossed the line in second place and finished the championship on 159 points, ahead of Freddie Slater on 145.
The pressure had been real.
Ugochukwu entered the final Madrid weekend locked in a close championship fight with Slater, and the title remained alive heading into the decisive race.

Ugochukwu did not need to dominate the finale.
He needed to stay clean, manage the pressure and finish strongly enough to close the championship.

Running near the front, the Campos driver stayed in contention behind Taponen and protected the result he needed.

FIA Formula 3 lists Ugochukwu as the first champion from the United States in the series, reflecting the nationality under which he competes.
Ugochukwu is a globally rising driver with Nigerian roots, and his championship pushes another Nigerian-linked name deeper into elite European single-seater racing.
That matters because Formula 3 is not the final destination.
It is part of the development ladder beneath Formula 2 and Formula 1, where results can shape the next stage of a young driver’s career.
The title therefore gives Ugochukwu more than a trophy.

Campos Racing also ends the year with a major championship return, but the biggest individual prize belongs to the driver who kept his season under control when the title came down to the final weekend.
