ADC Rejects Nafiu Bala’s Chairmanship Claim, Publishes Resignation Letter

ADC Rejects Nafiu Bala’s Claim to Leadership, Releases Resignation Letter

ABUJA —The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly rejected claims by former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala that he now leads the party, describing his announcement as “a desperate act of political deception.”

In a swift rebuttal issued during a press conference in Abuja, the ADC national leadership revealed that Bala had formally resigned from his position back in May 2025 — and released the signed resignation letter to prove it.

ADC Rejects Nafiu Bala’s Claim With Documented Proof

The resignation letter, dated May 17, 2025, was addressed to the party’s national chairman and clearly stated Bala’s decision to step down for “smooth and effective coalition and restructuring.”

“I, Nafiu Bala, do hereby write to notify you of my resignation… effective 26 May 2025,” the letter read.

“My resignation does not mean I am abandoning the party, so I would be ready to serve in any other capacity I may be called upon.”

The ADC declared that with this letter in the public domain, Bala’s attempt to reclaim authority amounts to forgery of legitimacy.

False Takeover Attempt Labeled ‘Political Hooliganism’

“This is nothing but political hooliganism,” said ADC spokesman Malam Bolaji Abdullahi. “He cannot resign in May and declare himself chairman in August. The constitution doesn’t work like that.”

The party accused Bala and his allies of attempting a backdoor hijack of party structures for personal interests—an act they say undermines both party discipline and coalition momentum.

Party Constitution and INEC Recognition

The ADC reiterated that its internal constitution defines clear succession processes, none of which Bala followed.

“INEC has not acknowledged any such transition. We remain a structured, constitutionally governed party,” the leadership emphasized.

Party officials also warned Bala to desist from parading himself under any ADC title, noting that his public statements were now being reviewed for possible legal action.
