Nottingham, UK | July 6, 2025 – IDNN Super Eagles Watch

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has signed a new 3-year contract with English Premier League side Nottingham Forest, extending his stay at the City Ground until June 2028.

The 27-year-old right-back joined Forest in July 2023 on a free transfer from Torino and has since established himself as a fan favorite, contributing to the club’s survival and resurgence in the Premier League.

“This club feels like home. I’m grateful to the fans and the technical team,” Aina said in a statement.
“The ambition here matches mine.”

Forest’s Statement of Intent

The new contract is part of a broader strategy by Nottingham Forest to retain core players and build stability after a season marked by mid-table consistency and upset wins over top-six clubs.

Club chairman Tom Cartledge praised Aina’s leadership and commitment:

“Ola epitomizes the spirit we want. He plays with grit, discipline, and pride. This is a deserved extension.”

Performance Snapshot

  • Appearances (24/25): 31 games

  • Assists: 5

  • Tackles per game: 2.9

  • Interceptions: Top 5 in club stats

  • Passing accuracy: 84.6%

Forest head coach Nuno Espírito Santo was also instrumental in pushing for the contract renewal, noting Aina’s “versatility and professionalism” in both full-back roles.

IDNN VERDICT:
From Torino to Trent-side, Ola Aina is proving why he’s more than a journeyman. With 3 more years locked in, Forest gets a warrior—and the Super Eagles get a sharpened blade.
