Erratic Hallucinations in the Senate? — Natasha Demands Drug Tests for Lawmakers

“Erratic Hallucinations in the Senate?” — Natasha Fires Back, Demands Drug Tests for Lawmakers

The political drama in Nigeria’s upper chamber just took a wild turn. In a fierce rebuttal to Senator Sunday Karimi’s public criticism, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has demanded that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) begin periodic drug tests on senators to save the country from what she called “erratic legislative hallucinations.”

Senator Natasha’s firestorm response follows Karimi’s blistering attack where he labelled recent events in the Senate a total mess and an embarrassment,” blaming her for dragging Kogi State and the entire nation into disrepute.

“All our admonition to her fell on deaf ears,” Karimi said, adding that, “Former Governor Yahaya Bello saw it coming.”

But Natasha isn’t backing down. In a sharply worded statement, she flipped the script, calling Karimi’s rant “symptomatic of deeper issues plaguing the Senate.”

“NDLEA needs to conduct periodic tests on senators. That singular process will save the parliament from erratic legislative hallucinations,” she declared.

Senator Natasha drug test call

This is no random jab. The NDLEA itself, under Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, has long advocated drug integrity tests for political aspirants. Even the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) implemented drug screening for local government candidates.

Now, with Natasha bringing that conversation into the heart of Nigeria’s legislature, the question becomes: Could drug testing become a reality for senators?

If so, it could trigger a paradigm shift in how Nigerians view the integrity and mental fitness of their lawmakers. No more late-night rants. No more drama-laced plenaries. Just clear-headed representation—or so the theory goes.

What do you think? Is Natasha raising a valid concern or just deflecting from the heat?
