Ekiti Police Arrest Ex-RTEAN Chairman, One Other Over Alleged Assault, Abduction and Death
The Ekiti State Police Command says it has arrested former Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria chairman Rotimi Olabiowonu and Opeyemi Adedoyin over allegations involving the assault and abduction of 45-year-old Sunday Ogunsakin, who later died.
Police spokesperson Sunday Abutu said the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on September 14 at Ogunsakin’s residence.
According to the police account, the incident followed a land dispute.
Police Give Account of Alleged Incident
Police allege that Olabiowonu and several other people arrived in a Toyota bus, removed Ogunsakin from his residence, assaulted him and took him away.
The command further alleges that Ogunsakin was later pushed from a moving vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
Police said he was subsequently taken to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Two Arrested as Investigation Continues
Police said Olabiowonu and Adedoyin were arrested while efforts were continuing to locate other people alleged to have been involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.
