ABUJA — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning amid the escalating leadership crisis at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, vowing to “take out” anyone attempting to sabotage the government’s restructuring efforts.

During a tour of the club’s deteriorating facilities on Saturday, Wike responded to appeals from BoT Chairperson Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, who had called the club’s state “intensive care” and urged urgent intervention.

“Let me advise troublemakers — it is not in this government that you will make that trouble,” Wike said. “If anyone moves to sabotage me, I will take you out.”

The IBB Golf Club, built by the Federal Government in 1991, is facing governance chaos, aging infrastructure, and internal battles over who controls its management structure.

Wike emphasized that the club is federal government property, and warned those exploiting the chaos for personal gain.

“No amount of blackmail will change me. You can’t take over a club because we appointed you to manage it,” he said.

He promised immediate phased renovation of the facility starting with the clubhouse, and vowed to seal the premises if overdue ground rents remain unpaid.

“We’ll invite Julius Berger to begin work. This club must rise again,” Wike added.

Justice Dongban-Mensem warned that the club’s animals — monkeys, birds, snakes — could be lost forever if intervention delays persist.
