Recognition From Niger State Leadership
Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has congratulated Sony Otache, founder of Crusader Radio and a prominent civil society advocate, on his appointment as North Central Zone Coordinator of the National Council of NGOs and Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria (NCNCSON).
The commendation followed the announcement of the Sony Otache NCNCSON appointment, which places the media advocate in a regional leadership position within one of Nigeriaโs umbrella platforms for civil society organisations.

Why The Appointment Matters
The National Council of NGOs and Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria serves as a coordinating platform for non-governmental organisations working across governance, public accountability and community development.
As North Central Zone Coordinator, Otache will help facilitate collaboration among civil society groups operating across the region.
The role is expected to strengthen coordination among advocacy organisations involved in public policy engagement and community-based initiatives.
Bago: Appointment Is Well Deserved
In a congratulatory message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the appointment as both appropriate and well deserved.
According to the statement, Otacheโs long-standing involvement in civic advocacy and policy engagement made him a fitting choice for the position.
โThe appointment did not come as a surprise considering how he has been at the forefront of advocacies aimed at influencing public policies, effective service delivery, accountability and citizen engagement in Niger State,โ the statement said.
A Voice In Civic Engagement
Otache is known in Niger Stateโs civic space as the Chief Crusader of Crusader Radio, a platform often associated with advocacy on governance transparency and citizen participation.
Supporters say his work has helped expand dialogue between government institutions and civil society actors within the state.
His appointment is expected to extend those advocacy activities to a broader regional level.
Responsibility Beyond Recognition
Governor Bago also reminded the new coordinator that leadership roles within civil society require a heightened sense of responsibility.
โElevation comes with added responsibility,โ the governor said while urging Otache to use the opportunity to advance initiatives that strengthen public accountability and civic participation.
The governor expressed confidence that Otache would bring his experience to bear in advancing the objectives of the organisation.
Expectations For Regional Civil Society Coordination
The North Central zone includes several states where civil society groups remain active in areas such as governance monitoring, community development, and public policy advocacy.
Observers say effective coordination among these organisations can help amplify citizen engagement on issues ranging from service delivery to institutional accountability.
Otacheโs new role will therefore place him at the centre of efforts to strengthen collaboration among civil society networks in the region.
Support From The Niger State Government
Governor Bago assured the new coordinator of the state governmentโs support as he assumes the responsibility.
The governor also offered prayers for guidance and success in carrying out the duties associated with the new role.
For many civil society observers, the appointment represents another step in strengthening civic participation structures within Nigeriaโs governance ecosystem.
