Chukwueze strikes early as Milan launch Serie A campaign with Torino win
Samuel Chukwueze has opened the new Serie A season with an immediate attacking contribution, supplying the assist for AC Milan’s second goal in a 2-1 victory away to Torino.
The Nigeria international’s left-footed cross found Adrien Rabiot at the far post in the 66th minute, and the French midfielder finished to double Milan’s advantage just two minutes after Alphadjo Cissè had opened the scoring.
Torino’s Che Adams pulled one back deep into stoppage time, but Milan held on for all three points.
For Chukwueze, the assist was more than an opening-day contribution. It extended a productive run in Serie A.
AC Milan’s post-match statistical review records the Nigerian as having been involved in three goals across his last four league appearances — all assists, matching his total from the previous 25 Serie A matches.
That makes his current role one of the more intriguing early tactical storylines around Milan.
Chukwueze started on the right side of Rúben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 structure, taking on greater responsibility across the flank while still providing the attacking threat that has defined much of his career.
He had already threatened earlier in the match before producing the delivery that created Rabiot’s goal.
Milan’s decisive spell came quickly.
Rabiot created Cissè’s opener in the 64th minute before becoming the scorer himself from Chukwueze’s cross two minutes later, giving Milan control of a contest Torino only reopened in stoppage time.
For Nigerian interest, Chukwueze’s contribution is an encouraging early-season marker.
A player traditionally judged by direct attacking output is being asked to operate with broader responsibility on the right, yet he has started the campaign by finding another decisive moment in the final third.
One match will not determine how permanently the role fits him.
But three assists in four Serie A appearances give Milan something tangible to build on and give Super Eagles followers another reason to watch how Amorim deploys one of Nigeria’s most dangerous wide players.
Milan’s season is only beginning.
