“Don’t Hide Behind TV — Let’s Fight in the Street!” Oshiomhole Explodes on Reuben Abati

“Let’s Take It Outside!” – Oshiomhole Explodes, Challenges Abati to Street Showdown

By: IDNN Political Affairs Desk

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has issued a no-holds-barred street fight challenge to Reuben Abati, co-host of Arise TV’s The Morning Show, in what is now one of the most unfiltered media-politics meltdowns of 2025.

“If you want to abuse me, don’t hide behind the TV — let’s meet in the street and fight it out!” Oshiomhole declared live on Channels TV.

The former NLC boss, Edo governor, and now lawmaker was reacting to Abati’s comment asking ex-Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa whether he sought forgiveness from Oshiomhole before defecting to APC.

“Who am I that anyone needs my permission to switch parties? I’m not the EFCC. I’m not Jesus Christ!”

“You’re Bitter Because You Lost in Ogun!”

You wanted to be a deputy governor and lost. Now you’re on TV, always bitter, always throwing shade.”

Oshiomhole didn’t stop there — he accused Abati of using journalism as a tool for vendetta.

“You wanted to be a deputy governor and lost. Now you’re on TV, always bitter, always throwing shade.”

He referenced Abati’s past arrest by the EFCC and accused him of hypocrisy.

“This is a man who was once arrested after serving under Jonathan. Was I the one who bailed him out? Did I drag him to PDP?”

🧠 Oshiomhole’s Labour Legacy Gets Personal

Oshiomhole also blasted Abati for trying to erase his labour movement contributions, especially on May Day.

“He couldn’t even acknowledge that I led protests and fought for workers. This is a guy who once wrote ‘Oshiomhole: The People’s President’ — now he throws mud for ratings?”

 Why It Matters

This is more than two men shouting — it’s a collision of:

  • Old Guard Labour Activism vs. Modern Media Critique

  • Political Memory vs. Selective Storytelling

  • And it throws a spotlight on how journalism, politics, and ego now share the same arena — sometimes in the ring.
