Flooding displaces Oghara residents as Delta assesses damage, relief needs

Flooding has displaced some residents and submerged homes in parts of Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, as the state government assesses the damage and considers relief measures.

The flooding followed days of heavy rainfall that affected residential areas and forced some households to leave their homes.

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Ejiro Terry Etacherure, led a government assessment of affected areas and said the state would evaluate immediate relief needs as well as longer-term measures.

Officials also directed the environmental department in Ethiope West to intensify public sensitisation and clear blocked drainage channels.
