Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie etched her name into French football folklore on Saturday, saving two penalties in a dramatic shootout to guide Paris FC past Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the 2025 French Women’s Cup.

The final had ended 1-1 in regulation time, with both teams cancelling each other out in a tense midfield battle. But when the game went to penalties, Nnadozie rose to the occasion, saving PSG’s first and fourth spot kicks with spectacular dives to her right.

“I trusted my instincts. We wanted this more,” said Nnadozie, who was named Player of the Match.

Paris FC were seen as outsiders heading into the final against a star-studded PSG side that included Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Grace Geyoro. But with grit and Nnadozie’s leadership between the posts, they secured their first major title in nearly 20 years.

The win also earns Paris FC an automatic slot in next season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Nnadozie’s performance has reignited discussions about her status among the world’s top goalkeepers, with analysts praising her composure, reflexes, and clutch mentality.

The 24-year-old is already a two-time CAF Goalkeeper of the Year and has been linked with a summer move to clubs in England and Germany.

“This is what we train for — big moments,” she told IDNN. “I’m proud of this team and what we’ve built.”

🇳🇬 Pride of Nigeria

Her heroics have earned plaudits from across Nigeria, with the NFF and several Super Falcons teammates taking to social media to celebrate her.

As Nigeria prepares for the Women’s AFCON qualifiers in July, Nnadozie’s form could be key to the Super Falcons’ continental ambitions.
