JAMB, WAEC fix O’Level result verification fee at ₦4,000

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the West African Examinations Council have fixed the fee for verification of WASSCE O’Level results at ₦4,000 for candidates whose tertiary admissions are coordinated through JAMB.

Under the arrangement, candidates are expected to pay the verification fee once through JAMB’s designated verification platform, after which the verified result will be made available to the institution handling the candidate’s admission.

The clarification followed consultations between JAMB and WAEC over the verification process.

Candidates should not pay twice for the same verification

The two examination bodies said candidates who complete WASSCE result verification through JAMB should not be required to repeat the same verification exercise at their preferred institution.

Tertiary institutions are expected to use the verified results transmitted through JAMB for admission-related processing.

That means the ₦4,000 charge is intended as a one-off payment for verification of the same WAEC result, rather than a separate verification fee imposed again by each institution.

The statement addresses duplicate result-verification charges and does not set out the rules governing other institutional fees.

Verification can be initiated remotely

JAMB and WAEC said candidates can begin the result-verification process from home or another internet-enabled location.

WAEC has also authorised JAMB to share the outcome of the verification with relevant tertiary institutions.

The arrangement is intended to reduce repeated verification and unnecessary costs for candidates while simplifying the admissions process.

What candidates need to know

The ₦4,000 payment applies to WASSCE O’Level result verification under the JAMB-coordinated admission process.

It should not be confused with WAEC examination-registration fees or treated as a general fee payable by every WAEC result holder.

Candidates should also avoid paying an institution again for verification of the same WAEC result once the JAMB verification process has been completed.
