Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reaffirmed their status as Africa’s benchmark in women’s football after dominating the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Africa Women’s XI for 2025.
The prestigious selection, released by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, features four Nigerian players, a clear statement of the country’s continued influence and depth in the women’s game.
Nigerian Quartet Anchors the XI
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was named between the posts, reflecting her reputation as one of Africa’s most reliable shot-stoppers following outstanding performances for Nigeria and her European clubs.
In defence, Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre were selected for their athleticism, positional discipline and consistency across club and international competitions.
Midfield dynamo Christy Ucheibe was also included, recognised for her tactical intelligence and defensive balance, while attacking midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade earned her place for creativity, drive and goal contributions throughout the year.

Continental Balance, Nigerian Edge
The IFFHS XI blends experience and emerging talent from across Africa. South Africa, Morocco, Zambia and Malawi are all represented, highlighting the growing competitiveness of the women’s game on the continent.
Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak, the reigning CAF African Women’s Player of the Year, was selected in midfield, while Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga completed a powerful attacking line.
How the XI Was Chosen
The IFFHS explained that the Africa Women’s XI is a projection based on statistical analysis and expert assessment, rather than a retrospective award. Player performances at both club and international level throughout 2025 were considered in compiling the team.

According to the organisation, the selection reflects nations currently shaping the growth, quality and competitiveness of women’s football in Africa.
A Statement of Sustained Excellence
Nigeria’s strong presence in the IFFHS Africa Women’s XI reinforces the Super Falcons’ long-standing position as the continent’s most successful women’s team. Beyond trophies, the selection highlights Nigeria’s ability to consistently produce elite talent capable of excelling on the global stage.
As African women’s football continues to rise in profile and investment, the Super Falcons’ dominance in this continental XI serves as both recognition of past excellence and a marker of continued leadership.
