Tobi Amusan has secured her place in the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final, keeping Nigeria firmly in the global athletics conversation as the women’s 100m hurdles season heads toward its closing stretch.
The Nigerian world record holder has amassed 28 points from five Diamond League meetings in the women’s 100m hurdles, enough to seal qualification for the season-ending final scheduled for September 4 and 5 in Brussels, Belgium.
Amusan currently sits second in the standings behind American Masai Russell, who leads with 32 points, with both athletes still having races remaining in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the final.
That position keeps Amusan in the centre of one of the most competitive sprint-hurdles storylines of the season. Russell owns the fastest time in the world this year at 12.14 seconds, while Amusan’s season’s best is listed at 12.28 seconds, a mark the report says she has recorded three times this season.
For Amusan, qualification is not just a calendar milestone. It preserves her route to another Diamond League crown and extends Nigeria’s presence at the sharp end of elite track and field.
The report says Amusan will be aiming for a fourth Diamond League title after winning three consecutive crowns between 2021 and 2023. She remains the world record holder in the 100m hurdles, having set 12.12 seconds during her historic world-title run in Eugene four years ago.
