Three women reportedly killed in attack on Plateau mining site
Three women were reportedly killed and another person injured after gunmen attacked a mining site in Rakum community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday.
The attack was reported to have occurred at about 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on September 28 while people were working at the site.
The casualty account came from community sources, including the Berom Youth Moulders Association.
IDNN has not independently established the death toll.
Gunmen reportedly opened fire on workers
Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, was reported as saying that armed men attacked the site and killed three women.
A resident, John Silas, also gave an account of the incident and said another person was injured.
The identity of the attackers, their motive and whether any arrests have been made were not established in the reports reviewed by IDNN.
Police confirmation not yet identified
As of the latest sources checked by IDNN on Tuesday morning, no Plateau State Police statement specifically confirming the Rakum attack or casualty figures had been identified.
