Osun NBA branches seek court repairs, say leaking roofs disrupt proceedings
Leaders of five Nigerian Bar Association branches in Osun State have asked Governor Ademola Adeleke to rehabilitate court buildings, saying deteriorating facilities are disrupting proceedings and creating hardship for court users, according to published accounts of their letter.
The appeal was contained in a letter dated October 29, 2026, according to reports by PUNCH and Osun Defender. Osun Defender reported that the governor’s office received it on November 2.
The branches represent lawyers in Osogbo, Ikirun, Iwo, Ile-Ife and Ilesa.
Lawyers link leaking roofs to delays
According to the reported letter, some courtrooms have leaking roofs, damaged ceilings and inadequate seating.
The lawyers said rainwater entering buildings had interrupted proceedings and led to adjournments. They also raised concerns about water reaching judicial offices and exposing court records and equipment to damage.
These are claims set out in the reported letter. IDNN has not inspected the facilities or independently verified particular adjournments.
Audit and emergency repairs requested
The NBA branches requested a comprehensive assessment covering High Courts, the Customary Court of Appeal, Magistrates’ Courts and District Customary Courts.
They urged the government to prioritise urgent defects and fund wider rehabilitation, with input from the judiciary and legal practitioners.
Appeal includes digital equipment
The lawyers also sought electronic case-management systems, recording equipment, computers and staff training, alongside maintenance funding.
IDNN has not obtained the signed letter, an engineering assessment or a response from the state government or judiciary.
