Ogun police investigate two separate domestic-death cases

Ogun State Police are investigating two separate cases involving the deaths of women in different communities, with one husband in custody and another man accused in a separate case reported dead after a road crash.

The cases are not connected, and neither has reached a final finding of criminal responsibility.

Husband arrested after wife found motionless in Ogungbade

In one case, police arrested Tajudeen Yekini after his wife, Toyin Edunjobi, was found motionless at their home in Ogungbade Village near Ayerose in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

Current reporting places the incident at about 10:30 p.m. on September 1.

Police-source accounts say the couple’s son raised an alarm and neighbours later alerted the authorities.

Detectives from the Kemta Division reportedly visited the residence, evacuated Edunjobi’s body and took Yekini into custody.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The available evidence reviewed by IDNN does not establish the cause of Edunjobi’s death or prove that Yekini caused it.

His arrest does not amount to a finding of guilt.

Separate Ibogun Akinode case remains under investigation

A separate domestic-death case was reported in Ibogun Akinode.

Current reports identify the woman as Odukoya Adenike and say her husband was accused of assaulting her during a domestic dispute.

But there is a material conflict in current reporting over the husband’s name and the date of the alleged incident.

Guardian reports the husband as Odukoya Bidemi and places the incident on August 31.

PUNCH reports Abidemi Odukoya and dates the alleged domestic altercation to August 25.

IDNN has not reconciled that discrepancy against a primary police incident record and is therefore not presenting either version as settled fact.

Accused man reportedly died in road crash

Police-source reporting says the man accused in the Ibogun Akinode case later died in a road accident around Iyana Coker Bus Stop on the Ifo axis.

Some reports say he was fleeing after the alleged domestic incident when the crash occurred.

That remains part of the police-source account.

His reported death in the road crash does not prove the allegation concerning his wife’s death.

It also does not establish motive, intent or criminal responsibility.

Evidence still needed

Both cases remain dependent on further investigation.

In the Ogungbade case, the cause of Toyin Edunjobi’s death remains unresolved in the material reviewed by IDNN.

In the Ibogun Akinode case, the husband’s first name and the date of the alleged domestic incident remain conflicted across credible reports.

Post-mortem findings, primary police records and any subsequent prosecutorial or coroner process will be important in establishing what happened.
