NPFL Round-Up — Enyimba Back to Winning Ways as Abia Warriors Go Top

Enyimba ended their five-game winless run with a 2–0 victory over Kano Pillars in Aba

Enyimba End Drought, Abia Rise to the Summit

After five frustrating matches, Enyimba FC finally delivered at home — a commanding 2–0 win over Kano Pillars that restored belief in coach Stanley Eguma’s project.
Goals from John Bassey and Edidiong Ezekiel sealed the win before halftime, ending a streak that had left the Aba giants reeling mid-table.

Meanwhile, Abia Warriors stunned Niger Tornadoes in Minna with a 2–1 away victory, powered by Sunday Megwo’s opener and an own goal by Sunday Akinmoladun.
That result catapulted them to first place with 21 points, two clear of Nasarawa United.

League Shake-Up and Early Title Race

The weekend’s results reshuffled the top five.
Rivers United bounced back with a 1–0 win over Nasarawa United, while Ikorodu City edged Kun Khalifat 2–0 in Lagos to rise to third.
Remo Stars’ decline continued after a 3–1 defeat to Kwara United in Ilorin — their fourth loss in five games.

In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United came from behind to beat Plateau United 2–1, as Emo James grabbed a brace to secure a morale-boosting home win.

The Numbers Behind the Battle

After 11 rounds, Abia Warriors lead with 21 points, followed by Nasarawa United (19), Ikorodu City (18), Warri Wolves (18), and Enyimba (16).
Pillars sit bottom on 5 points, struggling for form and structure.

Analyst Oliseh Adekunle described the current table as “proof that NPFL parity is back,” noting that no single team has dominated the season’s early phase.

“This is one of the most competitive starts in recent NPFL history,” he said. “Every point counts now.”

Sponsorship, Media Rights, and Fan Revival

The NPFL’s new broadcast model and improved club social media engagement have driven a 14% spike in match-day viewership, according to IDNN Analytics.
Sponsors, including Bet9ja and Star Lager, are renewing interest as crowd returns build post-pandemic momentum.
