Nigeria’s overseas sports storylines are carrying fresh momentum, with Tolu Arokodare making another impact at Ajax and Rafiu Durosinmi building an early scoring run in Belgium.

Arokodare delivers again for Ajax
Tolu Arokodare produced the strongest current performance in this edition.
The Nigerian striker came off the bench and scored as Ajax fought back to draw 2-2 with Excelsior at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Arokodare controlled an Oscar Gloukh delivery before finishing the equaliser in the 64th minute and later struck the woodwork as Ajax pushed for a winner.
The goal continued an encouraging start in Amsterdam after Arokodare joined Ajax on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 2026/27 season, with an option to buy.

Rafiu Durosinmi has also opened the season with momentum at Genk.
The Nigerian forward had reached five goals early in the campaign, giving substance to growing expectations around his first full season in Belgium.
Durosinmi told Het Laatste Nieuws, according to Punch, that he is targeting at least 20 goals this season.
That gives his campaign a clear benchmark.
The early scoring return has already placed him on the Nigerians Abroad watchlist, with the next test being whether he can sustain that pace across the season.
For Nigeria, his form also adds another name to the expanding pool of centre-forward options competing for attention abroad.
Nigerian golfers head home to Lakowe
Several Nigerian golfers with recent continental competition experience are preparing to return to home conditions for the Lakowe Lakes Golf Classic.
The event opens with a Nigeria Closed phase from September 28 to 30 before moving into an international phase from October 2 to 4.
The field includes Nigerian professionals who have competed across the Sunshine Development Tour, bringing experience gained elsewhere in Africa back into domestic competition.
