Bauchi Police arrest 20-year-old over alleged assault, robbery of seven-year-old

Bauchi State Police say they have arrested a 20-year-old man over allegations involving the sexual assault and robbery of a seven-year-old child in Darazo Local Government Area.

The command identified the suspect as Isiyaku Usman.

Police say the incident was reported in Kari village on September 6.

Because the case involves a child and unresolved sexual-offence allegations, IDNN is withholding all information that could identify the child.

Police allege assault and theft

According to the police account, the suspect allegedly took two mobile phones from the child and sexually assaulted her.

Police say detectives later arrested him and recovered the two phones.

Those claims form part of an ongoing investigation.

They have not been tested in court.

Medical examination conducted

Police say the child and the suspect were taken to Darazo General Hospital for medical examination and documentation.

IDNN is not publishing any clinical or intimate detail.

The existence of a medical examination does not by itself establish criminal guilt.

Police report alleged admission

The command says the suspect made an admission during investigation.

IDNN has not independently obtained or authenticated that statement.

It has also not been tested through judicial proceedings.

The reported admission therefore remains a police-attributed claim.

Case transferred to SCID

Police say the case has been transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The command says the suspect will be charged after the investigation is completed.

No filed charge or prosecution outcome was established in the latest material reviewed by IDNN.

What is established

For now, the verified publication position is limited:

Bauchi Police say a 20-year-old man has been arrested following allegations involving a seven-year-old child.

Police say two phones were recovered.

They also say medical examinations were conducted and the case transferred to SCID for further investigation.

The alleged assault, robbery and reported admission remain unproven.

The suspect has not been convicted of the offences.
