ABUJA — Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the killings in Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kebbi states, where over 50 lives were lost within hours in a wave of coordinated attacks, bombings, and ambushes.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday, Atiku described the incidents as “a devastating blow to our collective conscience.”

“We cannot continue to normalize this scale of bloodshed,

“These tragedies are not mere statistics; they are real stories of shattered families and stolen dreams,” he wrote.

Among the attacks:

  • Borno: Female suicide bomber kills 24

  • Plateau: Wedding convoy ambushed, 12 killed

  • Kebbi: Bandits massacre 30 villagers

  • Kano: Explosion kills at least 5

Atiku warned that the continued silence and indifference of authorities was fueling public despair and international shame.

“We cannot continue to normalize this scale of bloodshed,” he said. “The real danger is when death becomes routine.”

He urged leaders at all levels to adopt a people-centered approach to national security, warning that power without compassion will not stand the test of history.

“History will not be kind to those who chose power over people,” he declared.
