ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike Across Three Lagos State Universities
Academic activities across three Lagos State-owned universities face fresh uncertainty after the Academic Staff Union of Universities declared a total and indefinite strike across the institutions.
The affected universities are Lagos State University, Lagos State University of Education and Lagos State University of Science and Technology.
The strike took effect on September 15 after ASUU said a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Lagos State Government on August 31 expired without a satisfactory resolution.
The union said it had issued a further warning on September 10 and that the September 13 deadline passed without dialogue.
What ASUU Is Demanding
At the centre of the dispute is the union’s demand for the domestication and implementation of the December 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement across Lagos State-owned universities.
ASUU says its demands include implementation of welfare provisions affecting serving and retired academic staff.
