Abuja tricycle riders seek single daily ticket amid levy dispute

Commercial tricycle riders along Abuja’s Jabi–Life Camp axis have called for a single daily ticket, saying multiple collections are hurting their businesses, according to a published report.

News Express, in a November 3 report credited to Daily Trust, said operators also raised concerns about welfare support and loading spaces.

The report included allegations of intimidation during a dispute over ₦500 tickets. Jamilu Alhassan, financial secretary of the Abuja Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Riders Association (ACOMORON), denied the association’s involvement in the disputed collections or alleged intimidation.

Association distinguishes its charges

Alhassan listed what he described as the association’s approved charges: a ₦200 daily union ticket, ₦100 garage booking fee and another ₦100 garage-related charge. He said it was willing to discuss harmonisation.

IDNN has not verified the fee schedule or established its statutory authorisation.

Loading spaces also requested

Operators also requested designated loading spaces around Life Camp junction.

IDNN has not independently examined ticket receipts or obtained responses from disputed collectors, transport authorities or police.
