Community sources report two killed, others abducted in Kaduna’s Akwando
Published accounts give different abduction figures; no police confirmation was located in the reporting reviewed.
Community sources have reported that two people were killed and others abducted during an attack on Akwando village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday, November 4.
Blueprint reported that Reuben Buhari, a former aide to the late Kaduna governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, listed 18 people as abducted. Galaxy Television’s account of a Kuturmi Unity Development Association statement gave a total of 20.
Neither figure has been independently confirmed by IDNN.
Community accounts differ on number taken
According to Blueprint, Buhari said members of his extended family were among those abducted. His account described women and children among the people taken and reported the deaths of two men.
The association’s statement, dated November 5 and reported by Galaxy Television, also described two deaths but put the number abducted at 20. It called for stronger protection for Akwando and other vulnerable settlements.
The available reporting does not explain the difference between the totals or establish the abducted residents’ current whereabouts and condition. The attack’s precise time and the identity of those responsible also remain unresolved.
Association seeks security and humanitarian support
Galaxy Television reported that the association called for security reinforcements, regular patrols and operations to secure abducted residents’ release.
It also sought humanitarian assistance for affected families and displaced residents, alongside impartial investigations into attacks on communities in the area.
The association said repeated violence had disrupted livelihoods and forced some residents from their homes and farms.
Official confirmation remains outstanding
Daily Post reported on November 4 that its attempts to obtain police comment were unsuccessful.
As of IDNN’s November 6 source check, no police confirmation, reconciled abduction count or verified rescue update had been located. This report draws on published community accounts; IDNN has not independently reviewed the original statements or victim lists.
